Allergen Statement Builder by Country
Tick what your product contains and get the allergen declaration each market requires: US, EU, UK, Canada (English and French) and Australia/New Zealand PEAL.
- Declare each allergen once: this "Contains" statement next to the ingredients list, or in brackets after the ingredient, e.g. "lecithin (soy)".
Emphasise in the ingredients list: Milk, Soybeans, Wheat
- Emphasise each allergen in the ingredients list itself (bold, a different typeface or a background colour).
- Do not add a separate "Contains" box when there is an ingredients list: allergen information may not be repeated outside it (Commission Notice 2017/C 428/01, para 27).
- Name the specific cereal (wheat, rye, barley, oats); adding "gluten" is optional.

Contient : Lait, Soja, Blé
- Put "Contains:" (bold title) immediately after the English ingredients list and "Contient :" after the French one, with nothing in between.
- A "Contains" statement must list every priority allergen, gluten source and added sulphite, even those already named in the ingredients.
- Check the French against your translator: names here follow the CFIA list but packaging copy is your responsibility.
Emphasise in the ingredients list: milk, soy, wheat
- PEAL needs both: allergen names in bold in the ingredients list, and this bold summary statement next to the list.
- Mandatory for all stock since 25 February 2026 (FSANZ Standard 1.2.3).
Built from FDA allergen guidance, Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 Annex II with Commission Notice 2017/C 428/01, FSA guidance, Canada's Food and Drug Regulations B.01.010.1 to B.01.010.3 and FSANZ Standard 1.2.3, checked October 2026. "May contain" statements are voluntary in every market here and are not generated. Have final artwork reviewed for each market.
