Based on 21 CFR 101.65(d) as amended by the final rule of 27 December 2024 (89 FR 106064). Food group equivalents follow the rule's definitions, for example 1/2 cup-equivalent of vegetables or 3/4 ounce-equivalent of whole grain. Keep written records of how you calculated them for at least 2 years, unless your ingredient list already shows compliance. FDA's optional "healthy" symbol is still in development.
