The UK back-of-pack declaration, done to the rule

The UK kept assimilated Regulation 1169/2011 after Brexit, so a compliant back-of-pack label declares energy in kJ and kcal, then fat, saturates, carbohydrate, sugars, protein, and salt (not sodium — the software converts) per 100 g/ml, with optional per-portion columns. The generator renders the UK main format and the combined back-of-pack + front-of-pack layout, applying the tolerances and rounding guidance UK enforcement uses.

British English throughout your label, "fibre" included.

Traffic lights on the front

The voluntary front-of-pack scheme colour-codes fat, saturates, sugars, and salt against the official red/amber/green thresholds — per 100 g and per portion, with the portion-size conditions the guidance attaches. The free UK traffic-light calculator rates your values instantly, and the traffic-light format renders the panel print-ready.

Natasha’s Law and the 14 allergens

Since October 2021, prepacked-for-direct-sale (PPDS) food — anything packed before a customer orders it, on the same premises it's sold — must carry a full ingredient list with the 14 UK/EU allergens emphasised in the list itself. That's Natasha's Law, and it applies to cafés, bakeries, delis, and food-to-go as much as to packaged brands.

The generator's ingredient statement bolds the 14 allergens automatically as you build the recipe, so a PPDS label is the same workflow as any other label: recipe in, compliant label out. The free allergen detector scans a pasted ingredient list for all 14.

Tick allergens; the ingredient line emphasises them in bold.

UK labelling FAQ

Does this follow FSA guidance? The formats implement assimilated Regulation 1169/2011 and the FSA/DHSC front-of-pack technical guidance — each format page cites its source.

Is nutrition labelling mandatory in the UK? For most prepacked food, yes — the back-of-pack declaration is mandatory, front-of-pack traffic lights are voluntary but retailer-expected.

Can I label for the UK and EU from one recipe? Yes — switch the same recipe between the UK and EU 1169 formats; the data re-renders to each rule.
