Nutri-Grade Calculator (Singapore)

Find the A, B, C or D Nutri-Grade for a beverage sold in Singapore from its sugar and saturated fat per 100 mL, see whether the mark is mandatory, and what it would take to reach the next grade.

As sold, or as prepared for powders and concentrates.

Grade C

Sugar is Grade C and saturated fat Grade A; the worse of the two sets the grade.

The Nutri-Grade mark is mandatory on the pack and in advertising.

To reach Grade B: cut sugar to 5 g or less per 100 mL.

How Singapore's Nutri-Grade works

Two nutrients, four grades

Nutri-Grade rates pre-packed and freshly prepared beverages sold in Singapore from A (healthiest) to D. Each beverage gets a grade for total sugar and a grade for saturated fat, both per 100 mL, and the worse of the two is its Nutri-Grade.

A sugar-free drink with a fatty base, such as some milk teas, can therefore land in C or D on saturated fat alone.

Sweeteners keep a drink out of Grade A

A beverage containing a non-sugar sweetener cannot be Grade A, however little sugar it has. Swapping sugar for sweetener can move a drink from D to B, not to A.

When the mark is mandatory

Grades C and D must display the Nutri-Grade mark on the package and in advertising. Grade D beverages may not be advertised at all. Grades A and B may show the mark voluntarily.

The official mark artwork comes from the Health Promotion Board; use their files rather than recreating the mark.
