Canada "High in" Symbol Preview
Enter a product's saturated fat, sugars and sodium per serving to see whether Canada's front-of-package symbol is required, exactly which nutrients it must name, and a layout proof in the language and orientation you choose.
Bilingual is the default on Canadian labels. One-language versions are for the narrow cases where the regulations allow one language.
Names 2 nutrients: Sugars | Sucres, Sodium | Sodium (threshold 15% DV per serving for this reference amount).
Layout proof, not print artwork. The symbol's exact design, proportions and minimum size for your display area are prescribed by Health Canada; build the final file from Health Canada's figures (front-of-package guidance).
Reading the High in symbol
One symbol, up to three nutrients
Canada's front-of-package symbol names each of saturated fat, sugars and sodium that meets its threshold, under the heading "High in | Élevé en", with "Health Canada | Santé Canada" beneath. A product can name one, two or all three.
Thresholds depend on the reference amount
The usual threshold is 15% of the Daily Value per serving. It drops to 10% for foods with a small reference amount (30 g or mL or less) and rises to 30% for prepackaged meals of 200 g or more.
Use Health Canada's artwork for print
The symbol's design, proportions and minimum size are prescribed. Use this page to decide which version you need and to mock it up; build the print file from Health Canada's figures.
