Net Carbs Calculator
Work out net carbs from your Nutrition Facts values: total carbohydrate minus fiber, sugar alcohols and allulose, with the formula shown so the figure on your pack is one you can defend.
24 g total carbohydrate minus 8 g. Per container: 16 g.
| Line | Grams per serving |
|---|---|
| Total carbohydrate | 24 |
| minus dietary fiber | 0 |
| minus sugar alcohols | -8 |
| minus allulose | 0 |
| Net carbs | 16 |
Using net carbs on a US label
FDA has not defined "net carbs". It cannot appear inside the Nutrition Facts panel. A statement elsewhere on the pack has to be truthful and not misleading, so show how you calculated it, for example "Net carbs 7 g (total carbohydrate minus fiber and erythritol)".
Declare sugar alcohols if you talk about them. Sugar alcohol is voluntary on the panel, but it becomes mandatory once the label makes a claim about sugar alcohols or sugars (21 CFR 101.9(c)(6)(iv)).
Calories do not drop to zero. Sugar alcohols carry their own calories, from 0 kcal/g for erythritol to 3.0 kcal/g for hydrogenated starch hydrolysates (21 CFR 101.9(c)(1)(i)(F)); allulose counts 0.4 kcal/g. The calorie checker in our tools does that maths.
