Vegetarian: use the green filled circle in a green square.
Symbol

Place it on the principal display panel, close to the name or brand name, against a contrasting background. Scale it to at least the minimum size FSSAI sets for your panel area (Labelling and Display Regulations 2020).

India's vegetarian and non-vegetarian marks

Every packaged food carries one

Packaged food sold in India must show whether it is vegetarian or non-vegetarian: a green filled circle inside a green square for vegetarian food, and a brown filled triangle inside a brown square for non-vegetarian food (the triangle replaced the earlier brown circle in 2022).

Egg makes a food non-vegetarian; milk does not

Under the FSSAI definition, food is non-vegetarian if it contains the whole or part of any animal, including birds, marine animals and eggs, or products of animal origin as an ingredient. Milk and milk products are excluded, so a paneer dish is vegetarian, while a cake made with egg is not.

Placement and size

The mark goes on the principal display panel, close to the name or brand name, against a contrasting background, at no less than the minimum size the regulation sets for the panel's area.
